George Avelino is an associated professor at FGV, and the current coordinator of FGV- CEPESP (Center of Politics and Economics of the Public Sector - http://fgv.br/cepesp/en). His research has focused on political aspects of public policy in a comparative way. Currently, he coordinates a large research project on political institutions among Brazilian states (for more information, access the research site at http://cepesp.fgv.br/en/node/547. This research, through careful data collection and treatment, and the application of qualitative and quantitative methods, has concentrated on different political arrangements in several Brazilian states, by taking into account the linkages among three government levels that structure the Brazilian federation.
